Daring Cardmakers - Bejewelled

Hello again, I inked up my new Sarah Kay stamp yesterday and decided she had to be used for the Daring Cardmakers challenge.
This week they want us to use jewels on our projects. I used promarkers to colour my image and then I deoupaged her, I then used an elusive images greeting. I used a basic grey swirl and made some flowers to which I added my jewels.
The papers are K&co.

Just Magnolia and Friday sketchers

A rather tedious day today. I had the electrician come around to refit two extractor fans (pointless now we are moving. I then cleaned up his mess. Before I got around to crafting.
This card is made using two challenges Just Magnolia and Friday sketchers . I used the sketch by Jeanette at Friday sketchers isn't it fab. I used the theme distressing from Just Magnolia.
I colored my image using promarkers and then I used distress inks over the top to vintage it up a bit. I used a nail file on the edges and added some faux stitching. I also used my distress inks on the K&co design paper and used the nail file to distress the edges and the front. I then embossed some coredinations card and sanded it with the nail file.
Finally I added some lace ,a sentiment, shells.I also made a tag and added some flowers and a charm.
I had to laugh she looks like she is in a muddy pool rather than the crisp blue sea so this without intention became a humourous card.

Simon Says Stamp - Distressed

Distressed this is me most days and the theme at Simon Says Stamp this week. I used my distress inks, my nail fie, gesso, sticles and alcohol inks to create my distressing.
Firstly I inked up some silkcard with three shades of alcohol ink. I then stamped my beautiful fairy by crafty individuals onto this. I distressed her with a nail file and added some distress ink.
I got some (three different papers) K&co papers and I slapped on some gesso randomly. I let it dry thoroughly. I then added distress ink to two and alcohol ink and distress ink to one other. I then distressed again with my nail file. I bite my nails so I don't use it for them.
I layered up the papers and image and added the swirls and the sentiment ( prima stamps) I then added stickles and my flowers.
Loved this as this is me all over arty and messy. Thanks ever so much SSSC.

A spoonful of sugar - Caryn's Sketch

This card is for my gorgeous niece who is only just two. She is in Redhill hospital today having an operation to correct a squint in her eye. I cannot get down to see her so I am sending her this card to let her know I am thinking of her.
I also have a bit of news. I took the kids to get some shopping this morning and I was going to take them out but then decided against that. Anyway I came home and the phone rang and it was a lady from the council saying that the flat we bid on a couple of weeks ago had come up. It is a brand new flat very close to the childrens school so I said we are willing for her to put our names forward to the housing association. Get this, I am one of the biggest fans of "Lost" ( love you Jack)it is called Jacobs Island!
Anyway will stop rambling back to my card. It is made using Caryn's sketch from a spoonful of sugar challenge. I used K&co papers, flowers from my stash and this adorable stamp from high hopes that I purchased from Bunny Zoes craft shop .

Papertake Weekly - Dawny's sketch

I am really excited as next week we are having a blogland get together. Lorraine is coming over from Gozo and I am meeting her and Joey , so excited!!!!!!!! Will take some pics with my new phone!

House Mouse challenge - sketch

This is for the house mouse challenge which this week has a sketch to follow. I used an image from the lovely Dawn again. I am still waiting for mine to arrive from the states. The postal strike over the weekend does not help.
I used promarkers and copics to colour and I used basic grey cupcake papers and paper from my stash and ribbon from my stash.
I love colouring these images I can really see why they are so so popular.
Well I decided it was the day to pull out the kids bunks and I found some delights underneath raisins that were once grapes and a dried banana skin. Yuk!!!! I have just sent Jimmy to the charity shop with 4 large bin liners yet the place still looks like a junkyard why is this....?

Polymer clay christmas decoration - Tutorial

Hi, I have made some polymer clay christmas decorations,as my DT pieces for, this weeks Winter Wonderland challenge. I thought that I would show you what I did to make them. This is my first attempt at a tutorial so please forgive the photography and language if it is a bit basic.

Firstly I took two slices of white clay. I rolled it between my palms to soften the clay. I then took an acrylic roller and rolled the clay on some baking paper until it was about 4-6mm thick. I use an acrylic roller and baking paper as this stops the clay sticking. If you want you can use a pasta machine it gives a really good finish. However do not use the one you use in your kitchen as polymer clay is not to be eaten in any way.

As you can see it is now flat. You need to cut out a circle. You can use a biscuit cutter ( do not use for food after use with clay ), a template anything you normally use to cut a circle.

As you can see I used my fiskars shape board to cut out my circle. I pressed the shape I wanted over the clay and then I cut it with scissors

Ink up your stamp with ink and then stamp onto your cut out circle. I used gorjuss girls for my decorations but you could use christmas images it is your choice entirely.

This is what the clay looks like once it is stamped.

I then stamped around the edges with a basic grey swirl stamp and a polymer texture stamp. You can add versamark clear ink to stop the clay sticking.

The clay is now ready to bake in the oven. I cook mine on a baking tray that I do not use for cooking and I cook it for about 20 mins at the temprature suggested by the clay manufacturer
Okay once the clay is cooled down you can add your colour. I used a mixture of copics and promarkers as seen below to colour my piece. Let each colour dry as you don't want them to bleed. As they contain alcohol they dry fairly quickly and they give a nice shine to the piece. I used this rather festive colour combination.

I also coloured the sides and the back of the piece with my metallic gold promarker.
Here they are the finishing touches a red ribbon and an eyelet.

Daring Cardmakers - On the edge

I have made this card for the .Daring Cardmakers challenge. The challenge to add interesting edges to your piece. I used a torn edge for the sentiment which is an elusive image stamp, as is the flower. I cut one edge with a scalloped blade. I paper pierced the edges of the topper and faux stitched them. I then added a Martha stewart punch to my pearlescent purple backing paper. I used combination of alcohol inks for the flower and sentiment.
I added a beaded centre to the flower and layered it up. I also distressed around the edges too.

Anyone for Anya! DT call

Hello there is a new blog on the block and they are looking for a DT members. If you love Anya and all her Greeting Farm friends pop over and check out this blog for more details. The blog is called Anyone for Anya .
The challenge at Fresh Farm Friday is to use flowers and at least one butterfly on your card. I made this card.
I used alcohol inks to create a background onto which I stamped some butterflies (from the Pretty hat anya set) and some grass ( Penny black stamp.) I then used the flower from the pretty hat set to make my flowers. I layered these up and added stickles. They are made using grungepaper and glimmer mists. I then stamped my Peace hope and grace stamp and layered her up and paperpieced my grungepaper onto her. I then added some K&co papers and sentiment by cosmo cricket.
Our car has a flat tyre and so we have been sorting that out today. The weather is glorious and we have been stuck indoors. Why does this always happen. It is days like this that I so would love a garden just so you don't feel like a day is wasted. I have also got a household of nitty nora's how do you get rid of these evil creatures. I have treated all of our heads today and will have to comb everyday with conditioner.
Lets hope next week brings us better days.

Just Magnolia - Tab's sketch

For the Just Magnolia challenge here is my take on Tab's glorious sketch. I have had a crappy night!!!! Baby is teething and not happy at all he is so clingy and I am still feeding him so all he wants is that. To add to it my eldest son was up all night vomiting!!!! Swine flu if you go onto the National pandemic helpline. Not sure if it is Swine flu or 24 hour thing.

We went to do a bit of retail therapy today and that made things a little better. I have a few stamp orders to arrive in the next week and after those I shall be going on a stamp fast for a little while as I have been a bit thrifty recently.

Onto the card. I used papermania papers, my gorgeous Tilda and cat stamp which I decoupaged. I distressed and paperpierced and added some embellies and sentiment. I am so happy with the end result and I am loving using my new distress inks, can you tell!!!

I added some faux stitching and some flowers from my stash and a little sentiment in the corner. The children have finally finished school today so I am preparing for the mayhem of the school holidays. I think I have plenty of ideas of things to do. I was delighted to win the prize for this challenge last week, seems like I am on a winning streak.

The challenge is the Truely scrumptious challenge which asks us to use beads with this marvellous sketch by Heather . This was adorable to work with. I used promarkers on the main image and the background is distress inks. I used K&co papers and I made my bead pin. I added some flowers from my stash. I hope I did this gorgeous stamp justice.

A spoonful of sugar - Swirls

I used my Mary Hall image from sugar nellie for this card which I am entering into the a spoonful of sugar challenge . The challenge is to use swirls on your project. I used my basic grey stamp to create swirls on the background wall and die cut some sizzix swirls to frame the image.

I used cosmo cricket papers (polkadots) and my Martha stewart doily lace punch. I added a ribbon and some brads as embellishments. I told you I have been busy!!!! This is the first time I have entered the House mouse and friends challenge . My friend Dawn sent me some house mouse images as a prize and I have ordered some from Simon says stamp as a prize. So I thought I would enter the challenge this week.
A real challenge for me as I love colour. I used this adorable image I coloured the mice and cake with copics and promarkers and then added stickles to the cake icing. I then used distress inks and watercolours for the background.
I cuttlebugged some nestie labels and layered them added a sentiment and my embellishments and ribbons.
Can't wait to get my new stamps now. In the meantime I will be colouring in Dawns lovely images she sent me.

Two cards for the sketch and stash challenge

I got a bit carried away today. I came home knowing I was going to use my new whiff of joy stamp for the sketch and stash challenge . I am very low on baby cards and really knew I needed some. So I made a baby card using the sketch and stash sketch, which I twisted for both cards. I then got these beauties drop throught the letter box so I just had to ink one up and use it.
Drool drool this is one of the new Manga stamps from sugar nellie . I used promarkers and copics for the main image and distress inks and watercolours for the background. So happy I ordered these.

Winter Wonderland - Santa Claus is coming to Town

Hi again everyone, the weather is quite dull this week here in London. There was a really crazy storm midweek I watched it from the comfort of a pub in Greenwich which literally sits on top of the Thames. As the weather has not been so good I made extra time for DT work and this week for the challenge at Winter Wonderland I produced a tag and a card. The theme is Santa Claus is coming to town. We want you to include Santa on your projects this week.
I have this image by Paperartsy which I adore. I brought alcohol inks recently and this was a good chance to play. I used the inks to make my tag initially and then this progressed into my card.
I used the inks to create a background and stamped the image on top. I then added further stamps to create a vintage vibe. I also added some fibres a swirl, stickles and some diecut snowflakes.

Cupcake challenge - Blooms and Butterflies

Well what a week! It started off with clearing Nitty Nora ,my nine year old daughter. Although going on the amount of eggs I found that will be for a week or so yet!!!!
My son went to the hospital yesterday about his teeth. He has very unique teeth. He has fused teeth and extra teeth. A gene that throwbacks to my Dad who was born with extra fingers on each hand. His grandfather had extra toes. Well not only does Harry have this he also had faulty enamel growth. This apparently was because I had a virus whilst pregnant or he had a virus very young. Two teeth have decayed badly so he needs to have major works done on them over 3 months. Still at least he will be good once it is done.
My project for the Cupcake challenge is another gift bag for the teacher ( containing yes you guessed my cards. I used Basic grey papers I think they are the cupcake range. I used a cereal box and added some pearlecent papers, prima flowers, spacer beads, stickles and a stamped butterfly by The crafty pad. I attatched my ribbon with eyelets and my crop-a- dile.

Daring Cardmakers challenge - Russian

I was a bit stumped by this one but I copied Sue and I googled Russian and looked at the images. The first thing that sprung to mind was the shape of the buildings in Moscow so I used my baubles cut from DCWV paper. I then thought what Russia meant to me "Battleship Potemkin" The 5 year plans, Stalin, Lenin, Communism and as I grew up the cold war and Gorbachov (who I saw at Harrods when I worked there). The cold war is now over and there is PEACE so I used this as my sentiment. I hope it fits this weeks dare and this week it was a real brain teaser.
So here is my card for the Daring Cardmakers challenge.
